Entering the Louvre

Long walk to the Palace.

We are greeted by Louis XIV.
Still a long walk to the main gate.
And more after that.
There is a very long line, but I think it must not be for us. We have museum passes. So I go to the entrance looking for the short line, but... The really long line is at another entrance, and this long line is for those with museum passes.

So, while we stand in line I can snap photos. Here is the courtyard gate.

Nice fountain in case one gets thirsty in the hot sun while waiting in line.

Chapel from outside.

As we were leaving we saw a chase. If you look at the statue of Louis XIV you will see tourbuses in the background. The souvenir hawkers take the opportunity of an unlocked bus to increase profit margins. There are so many of them and they scatter like the wind when the gendarmes approach. There were several police cars working together. Then quite a few grumbling souvenir hawkers in the train station.
