Lyon-Day Two/Jour Deau-Silk

We started our morning with the two museums devoted to silk workers on Croix Rousse, a hill above the town. It used to be considered a seperate community. It has nothing to do with the Red Cross, but was names long before the Red Cross as we know it came into existance. It was named for some red rocks.

So, we are trying to find our way around Croix Rousse and got some help from some Metro volunteers, but we didn't realize that our goal was just blocks away from the Metro stop, so we took a trolley. It was a lovely ride and probably our companions aboard the trolley were the descendants of silk weavers and we did get to see this lovely mural, but other than that we would just as soon have walked a few blocks.

The first stop was the trimmers shop. Nobody opened the door when I rang. Lovely old worn stairs is about all we saw of this place.

But soon we were on the right trail...

and passed some lovely and interesting things along the way.

After we visited the museum we had a great steak and frites and beer lunch.
