Glendalough

It seems I almost forgot to post the photos of one of our favourite adventures in Ireland. Here is the scene as you walk the path to the entrance.






































If you look closely, you can see the hikers-one is wearing blue. We might have seen them later in the pub at the hotel.





















Here are the arched entrances and a busload of American tourists. The brothers would have been advised that they were either entering or leaving the sacred world via this gateway.

Here is a little stone step for getting up to the level of some of the graves in the cemetery. I forgot to show you steps such as these at the cemetery I photographed earlier-on the coast road. The church gate was chained and locked, but the little steps provided unhindered access to the cemetery. Seemed like an invitation to me.
