St Mary's is the only Roman Catholic Church that I have found in Ireland, so far. I know that it is RC for several reasons, not the least of which is that I observed a family of three girls and an infant with their mother. When the bells of St Mary's rang, they crossed themselves and kissed their crossing fingers. Besides that, the statue of Father Murphy is just outside the church and the mosaic inside the door of the church displays St Peter and says he in the rock on which this church is founded.

View from the church.

Here is Father Murphy.

In Gaelic...

and in English.

Here is something of particular interest to you Butler descendants. We would like to know more about those Butlers.
