Lyon-Sunday Morning-Lumiere House-Upstairs

Oval window looking out to Lumiere school.

The Lumiere family was of comfortable but fairly modest means. The brothers father had this Art Noveau house built. He was a vineyard manager and their mother was a laundress. When the brothers made really big money with their invention (which their father marketed) they did what newly rich people do-they built houses around the world.

The films from Algeria and Morocco in the 1930's were fascinating. Silent documentaries of sorts. Donkeys and veiled women and the Lumiere children wandering around marketplaces. I'd love to see more.
