Kenilworth-Inner Courtyard


This castle was originally built by de Montford, a Norman conquerer.  He built the keep.  But successive generations have added, as the storyboards explain, so that the ruins show architectural elements from Medieval to Tutor times.






You can see a groove in the wall that the portcullis for the keep would have fit into.  The lake was out beyond the outer wall, but the last defese would have been this bridge.
