Cafe Outing on Hungarian National Day

On Hungarian National Day our friend, Kristina asked us to join her and another friend of hers, Judy for some sweets at a cafe in this fabulous art deco building on Andrassy Ut. It was only a few blocks from the flat and a nice easy walk.

But, alas, the businesses inside were having Hungarian National Day, so I'll show you just about what we got to see of the building. It is a bookstore, winestore, cafe and seems like it must be quite grand.

Apparently Jerry Lee Lewis will be coming to Budapest for Halloween. Not sure I want to be there...
We did get to have some lovely sweets just around the block at a cafe near Mensa-on Liszt Francz Terrace. I had the crepes stuffed with poppyseeds and baptized with a big ladel of sour cherries in syrup. Fabulous. Given the opportunity we will be back.

Marcia got this great shot out of the airline window. I have been trying to find the river on Google maps. The river is probably the Danube, and we were on our way to London from Budapest, but I haven't found this little islands configuration with bridge on the maps-yet.
London next.
