Buildings at Kew

Kew is 250 this year. Augusta Princess of Wales got the whole thing going, and these houses are named for her. Augusta was married to Fredrick Prince of Wales, heir apparent to the throne. George II was his father. You may remember George II as the reigning monarch that inspired the tea party in Boston amongst other things revolutionary in the American colonies. Well, his son Frederick didn't like him either.

Frederick predeceased his father, and his and Augusta's son became George III.

So, while the colonists were beginning to think about becoming a seperate country, Augusta was gardening.

Tower. Sorry I don't know more about it. It was a great landmark for getting me back to the entrance that leads to the overground underground and eventually to home.

Temperate house

Home of the Duke of Northumberland, I believe. That's the Thames as well.

Alpine house.
