Salisbury

Our drive from the train station takes us down Fisherton St., so I was not surprised to find this old fish and poultry market. Love the green tile.

Like the blue building too.

This is the old Gaol clock.

There has been a market here since 200. Yup, no typos, three figured dates. These days it assembles on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Besides food, it also features cheap stuff and the usual market goods.

Government building with monument and bicycle.

Lovely tower.

Here is the arch at the end of High Street. It leads you to the cathedral.

The other side of the arch with schoolboys.

Gilbert, the dragon of Salisbury lives on the High Street...

very near the mall.

I call this photo, The King and Marcia's Head.

She is looking at the water flowing under the street bridge. It's the river Avon, and these ladies are enjoying it too.

After a day of Stonehenge, Old Sarnum, a walk through the market, and a tour of the cathedral, we took the walk back to the train station in stages. Just before the train station we spotted this restaurant. It seems one of those things that got through the culture screen, or at least our screen. It was good for a chuckle on the last leg, literally, of our journey through Salisbury.
