The Cemetery and Church at Muncaster

The Church, surrounded by cemetery.
There are many headstones like this one,
and this one.
Some are quite fancy.
The Ramsden's married the Penningtons. Here lies Lord Ramsden.
And Lady Ramsden
I thought this was an interesting grave. Shaws are another of my family lines.
Here is an interesting headstone. It reads: MEM
This dear boy lost his life by a gun whilst amusing himself with it beside the river Esk. He came from London with his father who was suprentending the restoration of the castle.
The rear of the church is covered with plaques telling us about various Penningtons who are buried nearby. Some are quite old-1600's-and might have been known by my ancestors before they came to the colonies.
Inside the church.
The organ
The bell.
The bells story. You can click on any photo to enlarge it.
Inside the church there are more plaques lauding the Penningtons. Here are a couple.

My emmigrating ancestor was Henry Pennington 1610 London, England-1679 Cecil, Maryland
KG
